Live Disease Free!

The Springs at Simpsonville wants to share some information on how you can live a healthy and disease-free like!

In his studies, Dr. Fuhrman has come to believe that we can double our body’s immune system function – and keep diseases at bay – by greatly increasing our intake of nutrient-dense foods, especially those packed with antioxidants.

Avocados to blueberries, raspberries to garlic, and more, there is a class of foods called phytonutrients (from the Greek word for plant) that are exceptionally loaded with the building blocks of cellular health in organic beings. Phytonutrients are the world’s richest sources of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals.

The phytochemicals found within our most prized phytonutrient foodstuffs – they are made of the organic plant compounds that keep living plants healthy – beta carotene, folic acid, and a host of other compounds that deliver crucial elemental combinations to cells.

While all of this might sound less delicious than a cheeseburger, there is mounting scientific evidence that our food is the single most impactful factor in our health and longevity (excluding the genes we were dealt).

For those of us who are diet conscious – phytonutrients often come with almost no caloric impact – these foods are among the least caloric ingredients. When paired with the antioxidants properties of their phytochemicals, we find that foods dense with antioxidants are delicious, nutritious, great for health, and perfect for those on a diet.

So chop up a fresh cucumber, start using meat as a condiment, and enjoy the most deliciously perfect treats that nature has to offer this spring!
